I have gotten together so far for a group of 4-5 people that are willing to go to Tanglewood. I'm trying to figure out a time but it may be more mid-day since I have a race the next day and am trying to get sleep. On the GoFundMe I reposted it and it is up to $245!! The plan i'm going to follow is to repost once a week and it may not gain any money but at least it's still providing an audience and maybe, just maybe, it may reach someone. On Friday i'm not going to force everyone to do a full 5k but that is average and what it says on the registration but whatever they're okay with doing it fine by me.
Overall we're only $55 out from the official goal but I just wanted to take a moment of reflection. This is $245 more than I thought I'd ever be able to raise and if anyone that's donated, interacted with my website, or just even reading this blog I would like to say thank you. This has only been possible from the people that have interacted and spread the word and I couldn't have done it myself. I was a little nervous about how I was going to get the money and a big enough influence, especially last week because I was over 75% of the way done with it and still had a $105 to go. Now that we're on the uphill it feels good and just got to hopefully finish this out and I'm even kind of excited for the milk mile. Three weeks to go. Three more blogs. 21 more days for an opportunity to make a pretty great project. This is a little scary, I'm going to do the practicing and planning for presentation probably the last week and half so I can finish this up and prepare it.

To raise more money I have decided to hold a 5k at Tanglewood to finish off the donation project. This run will be May 4th after school on a Friday so it will fit on the schedule the best. This will be kind of the last push to raise money before I plan on doing the milk mile. The milk mile will be filmed on May 20th at a track near my house and for my presentation this will be the last thing shown as kind of a fun and humorous outro for all the hard work everyone's put into this project.
I reposted the Gofundme and I'm going to see how that does and see if it influences anything at all if not I'm going to talk person to person. I will try and receive as many offers as I can and even let them know about the May 4th event to see if they'd be willing to do it. This will be a good opportunity to tell them personally about what my goal is and how i'm trying to execute it and see if they're interested in the project at hand. This is the time I really can't be slacking because we're decently close to the goal but not there yet and to give up now would be giving up on the whole project. The medals and bands should be coming in soon and when they do I hope this will spread a likeness to donate and join in on the opportunity. Also, social events like church, family gatherings, and other outings i'm going to bring up the GoFundMe or the link to my Weebly website so they can at least read and see the purpose behind all of this. I'm nervous but I am glad this week made me rethink how I'm going to finish off the last bit and end up doing the dreaded milk mile as well. This past week has been a little bit of a struggle bus. School has been getting the best of me and I've been slacking lately and putting genius hour at my number one priority. The supplies still haven't got in and there's been no more money donated this week so it has been slow on all fronts. I think a week like this was bound to happen since the first couple of weeks were a build up process of everything and really just planning it all out and now it has played with the work level. I'm fine with this happening this one time but not so much that it becomes a habit. This week is coming up I'm really going to start emphasizing the publicizing social media on it and trying just to reach out to people to see if they want to support it.
I was at my church and a family event this past week and I was happy to hear the support from people around me and talk about how they thought it was a great idea. To see the community almost come together and talk about a cause that is a great one is really nice to see and see them almost raising awareness by just talking about it really does something. Next week I need to definitely become more responsible and just try my very best to get the word out and reach as many people as possible. Once these shipments get in I'm going to send those out as soon as possible so that doesn't fall behind on that. Also, if everything goes as planned I'm going to do the milk mile on the 10th week if we hit our goal by then and I can post it on social media for fun. |
